| BOUQUET |
Pretty, lifted notes of green apple and sherbet dominate followed by ripe
lime and subtle floral hints. Youthfully inviting and fresh. |
| PALATE |
A hit of tight and tangy lemon on the front palate that just lingers and
lingers, surrounded by crunchy apple and lime zest. The fruit flavours are
quite forward in the mouth with gentle minerality fleshing out the back
palate. While full of the immediate and appealing vibrancy of youth, this
is a wine of sufficient structure to cellar over 6-8 years+. |
GENERAL TECHNICAL
NOTES |
This wine comprises fruit from both Watervale (45%) and Clare (55%)
vineyards, harvested approximately 3 weeks apart in March. The earlier
Watervale parcel contributes wonderful apple and sherbet along with a
mineral dryness, while the slightly riper Clare component provides lemon
zest and lime fruit characters.
The Clare Valley survived vintage 2009 relatively unscathed due to a 4
inch downpour in December 2008, boosting groundwater levels that
enabled our vines to withstand a minor heatwave of late January / early
February - a happier result than some of our neighbouring regions. |

Indulge in some Chinese style steamed scallops with ginger and shallots
or crack a bottle as a pick me up after a hard day in the coal mines. |
